WARSAW, IN – Three semi trailers were involved in a truck accident Wednesday afternoon, June 23, on a highway in Kosciusko County, Indiana. One of the truck drivers was injured in the three rig collision that occurred on U.S. 30 near the city of Warsaw, IN. The accident area is in the north central section of the state, about 40 miles west of Fort Wayne, IN and about 123 miles southeast of Chicago, Illinois.
Shortly after 3:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon 44 year old Miroslaw Kleczkowski of Brooklyn, New York was driving a semi trailer truck east on U.S. 30 in Kosciusko County, IN. When he reached the intersection of U.S. 30 and County Route 150 West in the city of Warsaw he came upon two semi trailers stopped for a red traffic light.
For unknown reasons, Mr. Kleczkowski plowed in to the back of the stopped semi truck that was second in line, driven by 51 year Richard Thomas of Rockford, Illinois. Mr. Kleczkowski’s semi trailer then slid along the side of the trailer truck. The impact of the truck accident broke open the trailer of Mr. Thomas’ truck and part of his cargo spilled out onto the highway.
After slamming into Mr. Thomas’ semi truck, Mr. Kleczkowski next hit the stopped semi trailer truck that was first in line, driven by 25 year old Ryan Fisher of Belmont, Ohio. Mr. Kleczkowski’s semi truck finally came to a stop, trapping the driver in the cab of his semi.
The Warsaw Police Department and several local fire departments responded to the scene of the truck accident. Rescue personnel worked to extricate Mr. Kleczkowski out of the crushed cab of his semi truck. Once freed from the truck he was airlifted by Samaritan Air Ambulance to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN. According to officials, he suffered a multiple injuries to his ankle, leg, and hip. At last report Mr. Kleczkowski was in stable condition.
