HOUSTON, TX — The driver of a heavy duty truck was removed from his vehicle by a fire department heavy rescue team and taken to Houston Northwest Medical Center in stable condition after an accident with two 18-wheeler trucks in northwest Harris County.

The accident occurred about 3 a.m. early Friday morning, April 13, when the flatbed heavy duty truck crashed into a stopped 18-wheeler truck, which was then  pushed into another 18-wheeler truck that was also stopped on the North Sam Houston Parkway West near the State Highway 249 exit.

The reason that the 18-wheeler trucks were stopped was because a utility company was pulling electrical lines across the tollway and had closed all the lanes during the process.

The driver of the heavy duty truck did not notice the stopped traffic until it was too late and was unable to stop in time which caused the multi-vehicle accident.

The incident remains under investigation at this time.
