FORT WORTH, TX –  Louis Nieves was sentenced by a Fort Worth jury of intoxication manslaughter in the death of a semi truck driver who was killed on March 2011 when his tanker truck exploded in a fatal wreck east of downtown Fort Worth.

Nieves, who was DWI at the time, admitted to television station WFAA that he got behind the wheel of his pickup after drinking 10 beers and was responsible for “a real bad accident”, crashing head-on into the gasoline tanker truck as he drove the wrong way on Interstate 30 near Beach Street.

Nieves will receive a maximum term of 20 years in prison for the deadly DUI accident that killed Alejandro Raya, 45, the driver of the tanker truck. Raya was married and a father of three.

A video of his TV interview was played for jurors at his trial.
