CANTON, Texas — The Department of Public Safety reported on Tuesday, Nov. 6, that a semi truck driver died after his 18 wheeler slammed into the Canton City Office Complex. The city of Canton is about 58 miles southeast of Dallas.

A semi truck pulling a rock hauler crashed into a government building in Canton, TX killing the driver and starting a blaze on November 6, 2012.

According to officials, the accident occurred at about 1:30 p.m when the semi collided with a sport utility vehicle and veered across a lane of traffic before crashing into the small house like structure, catching fire upon impact.

According to the media there were five people inside the building at the time of the crash, but all were reported to have escaped unharmed.

No other injuries were reported.
