ALSIP, ILL. — A multi-vehicle accident occurred on Saturday, Jan. 12, when a passenger car rear-ended a semi truck in Alsip, critcally injuring two people.

According to Alsip police, the accident happened at around 6 a.m. Saturday morning when a Ford Taurus struck the rear of a semi truck in the southbound lanes of Cicero Avenue at 128th Street and became trapped under the trailer.

The victims, identified as 32-year old Christopher Dellutri of Chicago, and his passenger 37-year old Coleen Palermo of Oak Forest, were extricated from the vehicle by fire personnel and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said. Both were listed in critical condition Saturday afternoon.

According Southtown Star, the semi truck driver, who was from McAllen Texas, was not injured in the crash. He told police that he had just begun a left turn as he felt the Taurus strike his trailer. Dellutri and Palermo could not be interviewed at the time because of their injuries.

The incident remains under investigation at this time.
