SOUTHWEST MIDLAND COUNTY, Texas — A 39-year old man from Big Spring, Texas was killed in a semi truck accident on Wednesday, Feb. 6, when the pickup he was driving collided with an 18-wheeler causing the pickup to roll over.

Justin Vogel, 39, of Big Spring was killed in a semi truck accident on Wednesday, Feb. 6, when the pickup he was driving collided with an 18-wheeler causing his pickup to roll over.

The accident occurred at about 6:45 p.m. Wednesday evening at the intersection of F.M. 1492 and F.M. 1787, near the border of Midland, Ector and Crane Counties.

Officials identified the victim as Justin Vogel, 39, of Big Spring, who was pronounced dead at the scene at 7 p.m. by Midland County Justice of the Peace Billy Johnson.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 2012 Peterbilt truck towing a tanker trailer, driven by John Ray McGraw of Midland, was traveling west on F.M. 1787 and started to turn south on F.M. 1492. At the same time, Vogel, traveling east in a 2003 Ford pickup, collided with the Peterbilt, the spokesman said.

The accident remains under investigation at this time.
