HOUSTON, Texas — The media reported that one person was killed after a van collided with the back of a semi truck on Thursday, March 7, in Houston. The identity of the victim has not been released as of today.

The accident occurred about 3:30 p.m. at the I-610 North Loop eastbound at Jensen where one person was killed. The 18-wheeler crash shut down eastbound main lanes along the North Loop near Jensen for hours during rush hour traffic.

“Travelers are advised to choose another route or departure time if possible, as traffic is backed up to Shepherd. The closure and resulting traffic congestion is expected to last through the rush hour, so travelers are strongly urged to take another route or choose another departure time,” stated authorities with Houston TranStar.

The incident remains under investigation at this time.
