DUMAS, Texas — Authorities reported that five teenagers were killed in a fiery collision on Sunday, Mar 7, when their Chevy SUV ran a stop sign and collided with a tanker loaded with fuel near Dumas, Texas. The city of Dumas is located about 45 miles north of Amarillo.

Officials said that the accident occurred at the intersection of FM 1284 and Morton Elevator Rd. between Dumas and Sunray, Texas when a Chevy drove through a stop sign and a tanker truck carry fuel struck the Chevy on the passenger side causing a fiery explosion.

Reports said the teens died at the scene and the truck driver was burned over much of his body. The driver, identified as Ezequiel Garcia, was flown to a burn unit in Lubbock where he remains in critical condition as of Tuesday, Mar 12.

The 5 teenagers killed were all from Dumas and were idenified as:

1. Jacob Paul Stipe, 16 (the driver of the Chevy)
2. Derrek Lee Hager, 17
3. Christopher Lee Moore, 17
4. October Dawn Roy, 17
5. Elizabeth Kay Roy, 15

The incident remains under investigation at this time.
