JACKSONVILLE, TX — The identity of 1 of the 4 men from Palestine Texas who were driving south on US-79 and were killed on March 16, has been identified as 24-year old Christian Chavez. The names of the other men have not been released.

The accident occurred about 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning on March 16, 2013 when four men allegedly returning from the casinos and boats in Shreveport, LA. were killed when their Chevy Impala veered into the northbound lanes near County Road 1409, swiped an SUV and then crashed into an oncoming 18-wheeler truck.

According to the media, the crash left all four men in the Impala dead, including Chavez, but did not injure the 18-wheeler’s driver and passenger.

Reports say that the responding officers found alcohol in their vehicle, but said that fatigue and drowsiness were likely factors in the wreck.

The incident remains under investigation at this time.
