CORNELIUS, NC — A semi truck accident took place on Wednesday, April 17, on Interstate 77 in Cornelius, N. C. shuttng down the roadway after a semi truck rear-ended a tractor trailer spilling yellow paint onto the road. Cornelius, NC is about 20 miles north of Charlotte.

According to the NCDOT, the accident occurred at about at 4:11 a.m. at mile marker 28 near the exit to Catawba Avenue in Cornelius.

WBTV reported that traffic was backed up as far as W.T. Harris Boulevard at exit 18 and that one person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The incident remains under investigation at this time.
