Witnesses said he tried to back up, but couldn’t, then tried to go forward but couldn’t do that, either. A fast-approaching Union Pacific train sounded its horn and slammed on its brakes and tried to stop, but didn’t have enough time avoid the crash. There were two railroad workers onboard the locomotive at the time (the conductor and an engineer). No railroad worker injuries were reported at the time.

The truck driver was identified as Steven Adam Baker, 53 years old who lived in Riverside, CA. He was killed as was his dog, which was in the cab at the time of the crash.

The big rig was pulling a live bottom trailer loaded with broken concrete.

The incident remains under investigation at this time.
