GUNTER, TX – A truck driver from Denison, TX, was critically injured in a semi truck crash in Gunter, TX on June 18, 2013. The city of Gunter is located in Grayson County, TX in the northeastern part of the state about 64 miles north of Dallas.

The accident happened a little after 2:00 p.m. on Texas State Highway 289 near Savage Rd when a southbound semi truck for unknown reasons drifted across the northbound lane and went off the road.

The 18 wheeler came to a stop when it crashed into some trees. The trucker, who was identified as being in his forties and from Denison, TX, but whose name was not disclosed, was airlifted to a Dallas hospital for treatment.

According to Chief Bryce Kennedy from the Gunter police, “The brakes were never applied it looks like. It looks like the trees stopped him but the mud is what slowed him down”

Although the article reported that the truck drivers injuries were non life threatening, nevertheless he was in critical condition.

The cause of the accident is not known, but is currently under investigation. It is not known whether mechanical failure or a medical condition were factors in the accident.
