There was a concrete wall where the big rig went off that was part of the Trowbridge Dr Exit ramp. The street below was the 5700 block of Gateway Blvd. on the eastbound side of the freeway.

The semi trailer was half on and half off the road and was dangling over the edge for several hours before towing equipment was brought in to clear the wreck.

The driver was reportedly not injured in the accident, but was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

An article on the story appeared on the KTSM Channel 9 website:

“The truck was traveling from Albuquerque to deliver the load of ice cream to C.F. Heller Distributing in East El Paso. Two tow trucks with cranes and harnesses were on the scene for hours attempting to clear the scene.”

Just before 7:00 a.m. crews were able to lower the trailer onto Gateway Blvd and upright it.

It was believed that rainy and wet conditions contributed to the accident.

The incident remains under investigation at this time.
