SHERMAN, TX – A semi truck driver fell asleep at the wheel and ran off the road on I-75 crashing into a wooded area in in Sherman, TX on September 5, 2013. The city of Sherman is located in Grayson County in the northern part of the state near the Oklahoma border.

The accident happened on Thursday, September 5 around 10:30 p.m. when a semi truck driver traveling south on Highway 75 fell asleep. Officers said that the truck left the highway near the Park Street exit and plowed through a guardrail, and came to a stop in the creek.

Officials told the media that HazMat crews were called out due to fuel leaking into the water. It took 19 hours to pull the 18-wheeler out of the creek.

Fortunately the driver did not appear to be injured.
