MIDLAND, TX – A semi truck driver escaped from his 18-wheeler on October 10, just before his tractor trailer crashed with a Union Pacific train at a rail crossing in Midland, TX.

The accident happened around 9:30 a.m., October 10, at the County Road 1130 rail crossing near U.S. Highway 80 in Midland. It appears that the trailer bottomed out while crossing the tracks and got stuck and was unable to move. The trucker saw the westbound train coming and got out of the truck in time. There were no injuries reported.

The flatbed trailer was loaded with pipes. The truck was smashed to pieces in the collision and was dragged about a half mile down the tracks toward East Loop 250.

The accident is currently under investigation. The trucker was cited for the incident.
