ANDREWS, TX – One person was killed in a semi truck accident on October 12, only four days after a new truck route opened in Andrews, Texas. The city of Andrews is located in Andrews County, TX on the western part of the state near the New Mexico border and about 34.5 miles northwest of Odessa.

The fatal accident happened at about 6:33 a.m. on October 12, just four days after the grand opening of the new truck reliever route Loop 1910 which was built to divert truck traffic away from U.S. Highway 385 which runs right through the middle of town.

A semi truck ran a stop sign and crashed into a Chevy pickup truck, killing the passenger and critically injuring the driver.

The deceased victim was identified as Augustine Jaime Torres, 48 years old, from Edinburg, TX – about 635 miles to the south in the southern tip of Texas.

The pickup truck driver who was critically injured was identified as Andres Ramirez, who lives in Pharr, TX, only a few miles south of Edinburg.

Ramirez was traveling east on State Highway 115 and the semi truck was heading north on Loop 1910 at the time of the accident.

The semi truck driver was identified as Raymando Dominguez from Odessa, TX.

The accident is currently under investigation.
