MOBILE, AL – Deonte “BJ” Johnson’s family and high school friends are still in mourning over his death that occurred just after 4:00 Saturday morning, March 26, when his SUV struck a telephone pole on Cottage Hill Road.
Deonte “BJ” Johnson was a well loved 17-year-old Davidson High School senior and football player, from Mobile Alabama.
Friends say he was on his way home from prom. Police say drugs and alcohol did not play a part in the accident.
People that knew him say he’ll be remembered for many things. Among them, Coach Fred Riley says Johnson will be remembered for his generally upbeat attitude.
“A happy young man, always a smile on his face, quick to laugh, quick to smile, not a loud person but a leader in his own way,” says Riley.
