PRAIRIEVILLE, LA (WAFB) – A woman traveling south on Highway 73 was killed on Sunday, Sept. 28, when an SUV passed her then collided with a semi truck causing it to spin out hitting the woman’s car and killing her.
According to State Police, 56-year old Carolyn Brouillette was traveling south on Highway 73 in a Lincoln when 29-year old Ashton Claiborne, who was driving the white SUV tried to pass her. Troopers said when Claiborne crossed the double yellow lines he collided with a cement truck. Troopers said the Mack truck spun out and hit Brouillette’s car, killing her.
The media reported that Claiborne was ticketed for careless operation and driving with a suspended license during a crash in June and also had a previous record that includes DWI, improper lane use and speeding.
Toxicology samples were taken from all three drivers and sent to the State Police Crime Lab for testing.
The incident remains under investigation at this time.
