JONESBORO, Texas — A woman from Comanche County was killed on Tuesday, August 8, when the vehicle she was driving slammed into a semi truck and threw her from her car where she was then struck by a second 18-wheeler. The victim was identified as Carla Payne Wendeborn, 43, of Dublin.
The accident occurred just before 5 p.m on State Highway 36 about two miles south of Jonesboro when the Kia Wendeborn was driving struck the driver’s door of a semi truck in the northbound lane.
Department of Public Safety Trooper, Gary Stiles, told the media that the Kia then went under the semi-trailer and Wendeborn was ejected from her car and was run over by a second 18-wheeler that also was northbound.
The Kia careened off the roadway on the southbound side and came to rest in a ditch, just a few feet north of Coryell County Road 196.
Witnesses who were at the scene of the accident later told Trooper Stiles that the Kia seemed to be driving erratically before the crash.
No other injuries were reported at the time of the accident.
The incident remains under investigation at this time.
