ROUND ROCK, Texas — A semi truck driver remains in critical condition after he was ejected from his 18-wheeler when his truck hit an overpass support on the I-35 in Round Rock, Texas. The city of Round Rock is located about 20 miles north of Austin, Texas.
According to Round Rock police officer Dee Carver, the accident occurred at about 6:20 p.m. Sunday evening, Feb. 18, in the northbound lanes of Interstate 35 at Louis Henna Boulevard. The intersection is also located near the State Highway 45 interchange.
Officials reported that the driver was ejected after his truck hit an overpass support, which split the cab in half and caused it to disconnect from the trailer.
Christopher Wilford, a witness at the scene said, “The cab ripped off the frame and the engine thrown out and a gentleman laying on the ground.”
The driver was taken to the hospital with critical injuries and officials said he was not breathing on his own.
The incident remains under investigation at this time.
