ODESSA, Texas — A fatal accident that happened on April 4 was caused by a wrong way driver in an SUV going westbound on the eastbound side of I-20 that crashed head-on into an oncoming tractor trailer with a second eastbound tractor trailer in the lane next to it.

The accident occured at 2:10 a.m. on April 4, 2013 at Exit 101 in Penwell, TX at the about 15 miles southwest of Odessa.

The SUV driver killed in the accident was later identified as 30 year-old Tiffany Beth Moore from Odessa.

Both semi trucks and the SUV became engulfed in flames and came to rest hanging over the concrete embankment at the the Exit 101 overpass in Penwell.

All three vehicles were consumed by the flames.

The fire was so intense and the destruction was so complete that, initially, officials were unable to identify the deceased SUV driver or whether the body was male or female. The identification was announced a day later.

Four other people were injured in the accident, two from each of the 18 wheelers. They were all hospitalized and then releaseda after being treated for minor injuries and burns.

The incident remains under investigation at this time.
