The semi truck was traveling south on State Route 13 when the trailer it was pulling came loose and veered into the northbound lanes where it crashed into the minivan, completely demolishing it and killing most of its occupants.

Among the dead were four children and three adults.

An article in the CNYCentral.com website reported on the story:

“26-year-old Teresa Bush was killed along with her two daughters 4-year-old Alexis Bush and 5-year-old Jasmine Bush.”

The article states that Teresa Bush was “in a relationship with Shawn Mead, 21, the only survivor in the car.”

The article had more details on the victims:

“Mead’s two children, 7-year-old Alyssa Mead and 4-year-old Tyler Mead, were killed in the crash.”

“21-year-old Lena Beckwith was also killed in the crash. She was a 2011 graduate of DeRuyter Central School and was engaged to 24-year-old Carino Vanorden who was also killed in the crash.”

There were two occupants in the truck who were not injured.

Officials want to know what caused the trailer to disengage from the tractor.

The crash is currently under investigation.
