FMCSA changed its mind and said it was withdrawing the proposed regulatory guidance for obstructive sleep apnea and request for comment that it announced on Friday, April 20.
Trucking safety groups and Public Citizen are now challenging the new HOS rule issued by FMCSA. This news comes after the trucking industry group American Trucking Associations (ATA) also filed a suit.
Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety, Public Citizen, the Truck Safety Coalition, and two truck drivers are also challenging the HOS rule issued by FMCSA. They recently filed a lawsuit challenging the new rule for truck driver hours of service citing the rule needed improvements regarding tired truckers and should be subjected to judicial review.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has published regulations that ban the use of cell phones while driving. The rule will be effective in about 30 days.

WASHINGTON D.C. – On December 29, 2010 the Federal Motor Carrier Safey Administration (FMCSA) proposed a rule change for hours of service (HOS) for drivers of commercial motor vehicles (CMVs).
