BULVERDE, TX – On Friday, April 2, 2010 just after 3:00 p.m. a dump truck rear-ended a black 1997 Chevy 1500 pickup truck with two occupants, sending it into the path of oncoming traffic on Highway 46 where it collided with two more pickup trucks.

Three pickup trucks lie entangled in a twisted pile of wreckage following the horrific truck accident in Bulverde, Texas on Highway 46 just west of U.S. 281.

In the crash, the two occupants of the Chevy pickup were ejected from their vehicle. One of the occupants, 45-year old Rona Fields, died at the scene of the accident. She was a mother of four. The driver, 61-year old Edgar Boeck, survived the crash, but with serious injuries.

The horrific crash occurred when Boeck, waiting to make a left turn into his driveway in the 21900 block of Texas Highway 46, was struck from behind by a westbound dump truck owned by Stone & Soil Depot and Company out of Boerne, TX. GROSSE TETE, LA – Four people were killed early Friday morning, April 9, when a tractor trailer traveling eastbound on Interstate 10 sideswiped another 18 wheeler that was parked on the shoulder, lost control, then crossed the median onto the westbound side into oncoming traffic and crashed head on into another big rig and an SUV. All three vehicles then burst into flames.

SHERMAN, ME – A Foster Farms semi truck crashed into a Maine Department of Transportation (MDOT) dump truck that was parked on a stretch of the northbound Interstate 95 in Sherman, Maine just after 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2010. The MDOT truck had been parked behind a maintenance crew on the Interstate as protection when the Peterbilt tractor trailer slammed into the parked truck.

WASHINGTON DC – On Wednesday, March 31, 2010 The Department of Transportation (DOT) announced its proposal to make its interim ban on texting while driving permanent for commercial truck drivers and bus drivers across the U.S. The ban applies to drivers of interstate commercial trucks and buses over 10,000 pounds and was first put into effect on an interim basis in January, 2010 by the Transportation secretary, Ray LaHood.
