By a vote of 5 to 4 committee vote, the Idaho Senate rejected Senator Jim Hammond’s proposal to raise the trucking speed limit to 75 mph. Hammond proposed the theory that it would actually be safer by having all vehicles, including big-rigs, semi tractors, 18 wheelers, etc., drive the same speed limit. This, he said, would “eliminate a lot of lane changes.”
LAPLACE, La. – A fatal accident that occurred on Friday, Feb. 10, involving an 18 wheeler and multi vehicles has claimed the lives of 5 people in a four-car pileup on the I-10 near LaPlace, Louisiana. LaPlace is located in St. John the Baptist Parish, in the southeastern part of the state about 112 miles southeast of Lafayette, 60 miles southeast of Baton Rouge and 25 miles northwest of New Orleans.
