AUSTIN, TX – A semi truck crashed and rolled over on the southbound I-35 in Austin, TX on July 19, 2013 shutting down traffic for several hours. Austin is located in Travis County, TX in the central part of the state about 79.5 miles northeast of San Antonio.

The accident happened around 2:45 a.m. on July 19, 2013 on the southbound I-35 just north of Rundberg Ln near mile marker 241.

The accident snarled southbound traffic for several hours while crews worked to right the big rig and get all the lanes opened up. The overturned truck and trailer shut down two lanes up until 7:00 a.m. when one of the blocked lanes was cleared.

The trucker managed to get out of the truck. There were no details to the driver’s condition or whether or there were any injuries.

Some lanes had to be closed temporarily to allow room for crews to gain access to right the truck. All traffic lanes were reopened by 1:15 p.m. – 10 1/2 hours after the accident.

The incident remains under investigation at this time.
